During the 2000 Sydney Olympics Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik met Mary Donaldson an Australian marketing consultant in a pub in Sydney. In October 2003 Queen Margrethe gave her consent for the couple to marry and the wedding took place on 14 May 2004 at the Copenhagen Cathedral. The wedding was attended by many of Europe's royal family as well as members of the Australian government. One year after the wedding it was announced that Princess Mary was pregnant and she gave birth on 15 October 2005 to Prince Christian Valdemar Henri John. The couple have since had three more children. Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe on 1 July 2007 and then the couple had twins, one Prince and one Princess on 8 January 2011.
