The Queen married the present Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Abbey. The pair were second cousins once removed through King Christian IX of Denmark and third cousins through Queen Victoria. Elizabeth met Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark in 1934 and 1937. In 1939, though only 13 years old, Elizabeth fell in love with Philip. At their wedding in 1947 the pair received 2,500 gifts from around the world. However due to the continuation of wartime rationing, Elizabeth required coupons to buy the material for her wedding gown.
