Location: Windsor, Berkshire
History: Windsor Castle was originally built by William the Conquerer shortly after the 1066 Norman Conquest, and since the time of Henry I (circa 1100) it has been used as an official residence for a succession of monarchs. It is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.
