Party season – Get rid of that puffiness!

Partying all night generally leaves you looking like a wreck. We tell you how you can look great the day after your night out!

It’s the season to be jolly and to party! But do you really have to put up with the puffiness that follows the day after? We think not! Here are some great tips that will help you get over the puffiness that is bound to leave its mark after an indulgent night of alcohol and those mouth watering deep fried, salty snacks.

Tips to get rid of that puffiness!

Hydrate yourself: Alcohols dehydrates your body. So drink plenty of water to get rid of that terrible hangover and puffiness.

Stay away from caffeine: Even though you may be craving for a cup of steaming coffee to give you that kick-start, stay away from coffee. Coffee also dehydrates the body, adding to your skin’s woes.

Cut down on the salt: Salt increases the tendency of your body to retain water, resulting in puffiness. Party snacks are normally laden with salt which when combined with the effect of alcohol, adds to the blotchiness on your skin.

Comfort your eyes: Late nights invariably leave your eyes looking puffy and bloodshot. Give your eyes some relief. For instant relief, place chilled green tea teabags on your eyes to rest them for some time. This is especially beneficial as they contain anti-inflammatory compounds known as EGCGs. You can also dump some spoons in your freezer, if you know you are going to have a late night. Place the chilled cupped side of the spoon on your eyes for 10-15 minutes for immediate relief.

Cold water to the rescue: Splash your face with cold water. Not only will it cool down your burning eyes, it will help reduce the bloating of your face.

Keep your head elevated: Before you go to bed, stack in an extra pillow under your head. It will help reduce the accumulation of fluids under your eyes which give your eyes that baggy look.

Massage your eyes lightly: Keep the motion circular. Use your fingertips to gently massage your eyes.  Apart from reducing puffiness, this is also a great way to relax your eyes when you have been staring at a screen for long.

Quick kitchen tricks: Cool cucumber and raw potato are home remedies which work wonders for puffy eyes.  Just slice up the cucumber and place them on your eyes for about 10 minutes. As for the potatoes, grate them and place them in a cloth to make small pouches. Keep these pouches on your eyes for 15 minutes. The starch in the potato is known to have anti inflammatory properties which helps to ease irritated eyes. Cold milk on cotton swabs is also a quick and easy remedy.

Cosmetic tricks: Try using creams with Vitamin K, E or aloe in them. Aloe Vera can work wonders on tired skin giving you that refreshed look in no time!

Grab a shut eye: When all fails, try giving your body what it really needs. Sleep! If even after flushing out the alcohol from your body, you feel bloated, head straight to bed. Nothing rejuvenates your body like adequate sleep.

Now you too can dance the night away and look fantastic the next day!
