Janmashtami Special Recipes

Janmashtami , birth of Lord krishna is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. Shri krishna Janmashtami is also known as "Krishnashtami", "Saatam Aatham" ,"Gokulashtami", "Ashtami Rohini", "Srikrishna Jayanti", "Shree Jayanthi" or sometimes only as "Janmashtami". Krishna Janmashtami is a significant festival in the Hindu calendar.

Steps for the Sree krishna Pooja

•Small image of Balkrishna
•A small cradle decorated with flowers and a small potda (handkerchief is kept in the cradle)
•New clothes for God’s idols
•Panchamrut made out of unboiled milk, curds, ghee, honey and powdered sugar
•Flowers and flower garlands, chandan, ittar
•A book containing Shri Krishna's aarti.

Ashtami Rohini is a festival celebrated with lot of zeal and joy. Lord Krishna was very fond of milk and milk products, so devotees make various dishes of milk to please the Lord on this day. Commonly the devotees make those food items, which are most favorite of the Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is welcomed by offering umpteen varieties of delicious sweet dishes are prepared from milk and curds that Krishna loved.

Ingredients :
1 Cup Singhare Flour
1 tbsp oil
2 tsp Ajwain Seeds
1/4 Cup Coriander Leaves
1/4 Cup Chopped Spinach
1/4 Cup boiled, mashed Potatoes
2 chopped green chillies
1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
Salt according to Taste
Water For Kneading
Oil For Deep Frying


Preparation :
Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly. Add water little by little and make a small puri in your hand. This is not like normal flour, so do not add too much water. Heat oil in a frying pan & fry puri until dark brown. Repeat this with the rest of the flour mixture.


Serve with Pickle and curd.
