Yoga during Pregnancy

Through this series on Pregnancy, in which each column would deal with one important aspect of the pregnancy phase, I attempt at introducing a wonderful concept of Jag Therapy to all of you. K.R.I Jagdish formulated the Jag therapy which is a unique method of alternative medical treatment through the holistic approach. It's an extremely successful therapy which has suited and cured many people and I say this out of personal experience! However please ensure utmost safety while taking to any suggestions made here by this particular therapy since each person's anatomy and constitution is different. Remember to consult your doctor before adopting anything in your entire pregnant phase though the first article in this series is very general as it deals with common important things one must keep in mind throughout.

HEALTHY WAYS OF LIVING DURING PREGNANCY:

As a prospective mother one should be well prepared both physically and mentally before conceiving. You should know the physical preparation for pregnancy, about delivery, nutritional management during this phase and post-natal care. If the to-be-mother is active, cheerful and optimistic, she will see its positive effects on the birth and the child. Good preparation of the body and mind helps to have a wonderful healthy baby with ease. Naturally nutritious food with least amount of drugs and chemicals certainly build better health. Yoga promotes blood circulation, maintains healthy tissues of the body, develops good discipline and clears the emotional imbalance of the mind.

Both parents contribute to the development of the baby and therefore are to be healthy and well prepared before planning to get a new life into their own lives. Both the parents should consult the doctor to find out about their individual health since a thorough checkup can avert possible dangers.

Visiting the doctor regularly for a checkup should not be neglected. The visit should be every month, for the first six months, once in two weeks for the 7th and 8th month and later every week. If there is any discomfort, even it appears to be minor should be informed to the doctor without hesitation or shyness. Some dangerous symptoms are frequent headaches, dizziness, morning sickness even after three months, discomfort in the lower abdomen, difficulty in urinating, blood in the urine, swelling etc.

The foetus receives its nourishment and oxygen from its mother's blood. Eating wisely during pregnancy can do much to help the birth and health of the baby as well as that of the mother. There is no need to eat for "two" of you during pregnancy but you should eat well. It is not the quantity but the quality of the food that is important. The food should be nutritious and rich in natural vitamins and minerals. The development of a health baby depends upon the food the mother takes. Unless there is serious illness, there is no need for supplements, provided the food is nutritious. An extra protein diet is required only after six months of pregnancy. There will be cravings for certain foods which do not mean anything other than emotional disturbance.

Relaxation, deep breathing and meditation help to solve the problem.
