Actress and social activist Amala Akkineni joined Greenpeace activists at the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad to protest against coal mining in the forests of Central India. The activists unfurled a banner from the balcony demanding that the Indian Government halt all new coal mining in forest areas. The 60 foot banner, with the Indian Prime Minister’s face on it, read – Stop Coal Crimes – Save Indian Forests. On the ground, before the monument Akkineni stood firm carrying a poster reading - Stop Coal Crimes.
