Actress Amala Akkineni joins Greenpeace protest in Hyderabad
Demands that the Prime Minister protects forests threatened by coal mining

Actress and social activist Amala Akkineni joined Greenpeace activists at the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad to protest against coal mining in the forests of Central India. The activists unfurled a banner from the balcony demanding that the Indian Government halt all new coal mining in forest areas. The 60 foot banner, with the Indian Prime Minister’s face on it, read – Stop Coal Crimes – Save Indian Forests. On the ground, before the monument Akkineni stood firm carrying a poster reading - Stop Coal Crimes.
