Moscow

No more drab communism — today's Muscovites demand the best. You'll find Russia's famous Fabergé eggs in the Okhoktny Ryad shopping centre — next to Red Square and near the Kremlin — which offers three underground levels of more than 100 shops and restaurants. Beautiful 19th century architecture distinguishes GUM in Red Square, one of the city's busiest malls with four floors of shopping. Vernisazh market at Izmaylovsky Park on the east side of Moscow is the best place for Khokhloma ware (painted wood folk art), jewelry, fur hats, and antique samovars.
