The 'Land of the Pharaohs' beckons
Wondering where to holiday next? How about Egypt? The idea may not go well with many what with all the political turmoil. But authorities in Egypt have not lost hope. They are working hard to revive the once thriving tourism industry by launching aggressive campaigns in India with special corporate packages and will soon be starting direct flights from Delhi. Currently, there are direct flights from Mumbai to Cairo.
Cairo is even wooing Bollywood and is offering an interesting package for youngsters.
The north African nation is targeting youngsters in India with its new campaign having several adventure destinations besides resuming the 14-day Nile-Aswan cruise, which was closed for several years for administrative reasons.
Allaying security fears in the country, Khaled El Bakly, ambassador of Egypt to India, said: "Cairo was the centre of change and no tourists got affected there."
