Actress Sonakshi Sinha walked the ramp for ace designer Manish Malhotra as he opened the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 in Mumbai.

Bollywood celebs like Kangana Ranaut, Kajol, Tanisha, Ameesha Patel, Lisa Haydon, Zayed Khan, Esha Gupta, Sonali Bendre, Tusshar Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Sophie Choudry, Swara Bhaskar and Richa Chadda among many others were present at the show.

Sonakshi made a graceful entry in a long floor-kissing sheer black kurta with stunning white embroidery to set the mood of the delicate ethereal collection. She was the third one to walk the ramp.

Manish opened the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 season with a collection called 'A Summer Affair' last night. The fashion extravaganza begins from March 11 and will go on till March 16.

“A Summer Affair is influenced by the romanticism that exists in today's day and age... where layers and boundaries are surpassed... the young in love are distracted and are expressing their individuality,” Malhotra said in a statement.

Tree trunks were curved elegantly along the ramp, clusters of blossoms and creepers flowed down from the ceiling. Manish showcased about 60 ensembles on the runway.

The collection saw kurtas, summery skirts, slim pants, pre-stitched saris and cholis, long gowns, high neck women's sherwanis, wide pleated palazzos, jackets, printed sherwanis, shirt-kurtas, cotton and linen trousers.

Sheer and lightweight fabrics such as organza, georgette and tulle made the ensembles in hues of pink, powder blue and beige summer-friendly.

The men’s collection had outfits with print on print and different textures in contemporary Indian jackets. Kurtas also got a makeover as shirt kurtas.

Staying true to his favourite navy blue and grey, Manish added shades of pink to the collection. The designer also allowed neutral beige, white and black to complete the colour spectrum.
