As we pull up to the Shard, the view at the ground is hardly inspiring - workmen are scurrying around and the sound of a buzzsaw fills the air. But then, at the base of the building, you look up and it appears as if an icicle is shooting up from the ground, striving to pierce the sky. We've been lucky enough to preview London's latest tourist attraction, The View from the Shard, which is the viewing platform of Europe's tallest building. The building is 309 metres high, and the attraction is 22 metres tall.

There has been a lot of controversy over the Shard - firstly over the design and whether or not it is a monstrosity on London's skyline. Secondly, over the £24.95 entrance fee to whizz up the 72 floors to see an unrivalled view of London. Read on to the end for our verdict...
