Designer Bhairavi Jaikishan's collection "Paradise Island", designed specifically for destination weddings, was showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2013.
The designer feels that the concept of destination weddings is coming up in India and her collection catered to such stylized functions.
The collection comprised net saris with heavy embroidery, suits and lehengas with embroidered cholis in colours like gold, pink, red and orange.
Designer Rajat K Tangri was inspired by the geographic shapes of the Earth.
The show began with a gown in a fog colour with opaque ivory embroidery and crystal work. The collection has structured fitted dresses and jump suits for women and smart formal suits for men in colours like fog, sage, coral, midnight blue and copper. The clothes were made in Italian blended cotton fabrics, silks and stretch satin, and adorned with mother of pearl, opal stone and copper embellishments.
Designer Krishna Mehta, who displayed an edgy, colourful and elegant collection, says that her line is a celebration of her Indian heritage.
The prints were bold with textures like tie and dye and shibori. Even the fabrics like hand woven muslins, chanderis and silks spoke of its Indian roots. The collection included smart tunics, dresses, pants and skirts.
Designer Sailex's collection was inspired from the military. The designer said that he usually doesn't like naming his lines but decided to name this one "Garden Safari".
The show started with a great energy as the models walked to a peppy number. The clothes included pants, jackets, high waisted shorts, short dresses and gowns. A rose motif was used deliberately on the clothes to give then a more feminine look.
