Meghna Naidu: Food & fitness fundas

Here's Meghna's food and fitness fundas.

Health conscious
You need to be healthy both in mind and body. I think for me it runs in the family. My father is a tennis professional coaching athletes at the national level under the guidance of Mahesh Bhupathi, and my mother was a dancer in her youth. Keeping your body healthy is a basic philosophy that I feel everyone should "live". I don't do yoga or go for walks as I don't have time. For me my health regime is restricted by the constrictions of time and the demands of my profession which requires me to be on the sets shooting for upto 10-12 hours at times.

I exercise
I spend a lot of time on my cardio. And despite the jokes, I love to dance. I truly love to dance. A few years earlier it was considered at a junior level to be an item girl, but now even the top actresses have done item songs. Look at Mallika, Aishwariya, and Sushmita, and now Kareena. I think being an item girl has achieved a new wave of popularity and respect and isn't something to be frowned on any longer. I think there is a lot of glamour to being a sex symbol, but it also demands responsibility both from the star in the way they conduct themselves in public and from their fans in realising that they are people and women. I am a trained Bharat Natyam dancer and enjoy classical dancing. I am 5'5" and I enjoy food so I have to keep to a strict fitness regime. I used to play tennis and then gave it up when I joined films, and I also used to coach tennis to children under the guidance of my father. My favourite night spot is Enigma at the Mariott.

Sex\symbol
I don't see myself as a sex symbol. I hope my fans, and I know my boyfriend sees me a combination of beauty, brains and sex appeal. I think for a woman to be attractive she has to have a little bit of everything. I think having the label of sex symbol is much better than the tag of "sati savitri" which I think would have its own set of problems. The most important thing is to be comfortable with yourself and the way you carry yourself.

I love food
I am a big foodie. I love all types of food. My parents are from the South, but I enjoy all types of Indian food. I am especially fond of Thai food, and Japanese sushi. I love red Thai curry with rice. I believe food is essential. If I had to choose between food and love it would be both. Anyone would die without both. And you are essentially what you eat. The food should be nourishing and tasty. I eat a substantial amount of food all day long usually in small meals four times a day.

I cannot cook
I don't have time to cook, but I love home food. I start my day with a glass of orange juice and I usually skip breakfast because I don't usually get up before 11:00 am. I usually get ready and shower and then its time for lunch. My lunch consists of roti, vegetables and dal. And if there is non-vegetarian on the menu its usually chicken or fish. For dinner I enjoy chicken (tandoori, or curry), and fish which goes well with dal.
