Pencilled eyebrows dubbed worst make-up sin in new beauty poll
Heavily filled in eyebrows have been voted the top beauty blooper of the 21st century. Researchers who polled 2,000 women found dense, fake-looking dark brows were the ultimate make-up no-no. Foundation tide marks around the chin due to unblended makeup was declared as the second clanger.
In third place were trout pouts or cosmetically-enhanced lips. Over-plucked eyebrows leaving little or no hair came fourth and dark lip liner combined with a lighter shade of lipstick - a style favoured by Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson - was the fifth faux pas. "We are all guilty of making some of these mistakes at some time in our lives whether it's being overzealous with a pair of tweezers, forgetting to blend make-up properly or smiling with lipstick on our teeth," the Sun quoted Sara Wolverson of Superdrug, which commissioned the study, as saying.
"Many of the blunders in this poll are genuine mistakes and could be a result of something simple like bad lighting. "It's really interesting that brow blunders make up three of the top ten, whether brows are too big, too light or too dark. With this in mind it's no surprise that sales of brow kits and brow pencils are soaring in our stores."
Orange palms from applying fake tan came sixth in the beauty blunders survey, while in seventh place was a monobrow when eyebrows meet in the middle. In eighth place was greasy hair followed by hairy legs. Other mistakes that made it in the top 25 were fake beauty spots, clumpy mascara and matted hair extensions. Black roots with fair hair, yellow teeth and sunburn were also listed.
