Room to book: This private island has 16 luxury villas and is only a 20-minute flight away from Mahé. With its seven beaches, Fregate Island Private is idyllic. The water is gin-clear, the sand is dotted with shimmering granite boulders, and the resort is surrounded by plush flora and fauna. Book one of the spa villas for a truly indulgent time. Spread over 5,000sqft, this one-bedroom villa comes with its very own spa, three bathrooms and three outdoor showers. There is also a large, half-moon terrace with an infinity pool, Jacuzzi andsala. Additionally, as a guest, you can avail of the island buggy service as well as private butler service, which means you don’t have to lift a finger if you don’t want to.

Why go: Lizard Island, in the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef, is a private island resort with 24 white sandy beaches. The island offers water activities like snorkelling, diving, fishing and even deep-sea game fishing. You and your loved one can enjoy picnics on its secluded beaches and extravagant spa treatments, at this resort.
Room to book: Naturally, since the entire island is one resort, the room to book would be the Pavilion. Noble by name and stunning by design, the villas are 764sq ft in size. Imagine standing on the outdoor deck, the warm burnished teak underfoot as you stare out over your private infinity pool that overlooks Anchor Bay, Osprey Island and Sunset Beach. Our favourite part is the inlaid circular glass sections of flooring within the villa which gives you a peek into the active marine life below. At night, with the flick of a switch, the ocean bed beneath the villa is illuminated and ethereal aquatic forms slink and flicker by.

Why go: Exceptional in every way, this tropical island escape is definitely paradise in the pacific.
Room to book: The Royal Davui Pool Suite. The only one of its kind on the island, this villa’s gorgeous folding doors give way to teak decks and breathtaking views of the Beqa Lagoon. With an indoor garden, private sun and dining decks, a heated plunge pool, outdoor showers, a Jacuzzi spa bath and more, pampering never felt as good before. This couples’ retreat on the adults-only island is perfect for honeymooners as well as those looking to celebrate their anniversary. The resort could also organise champagne breakfasts on isolated sand bars, spa packages for two and nautical adventures, upon request. There are also a host of cultural activities on offer such as cooking workshops and a peek into a traditional Kava Ceremony.

Why go: 850 acres in the Caribbeanfor you to laugh, play and revel in. Do you really need more convincing?
Room to book: The North Beach Villa. The only villa located at this point of the island, its living room, bedroom and kitchen, all have individual terraces. With a saltwater pool, just steps away from the villa, and lush sea grape trees swaying in the breeze, it’s hard not to get mushy in these settings. A winding pathway leads down to the shore where pelicans launch off rocks. The villa also comes with its own golf cart, in case you and your partner decide to zip around the island. There are also paddle boats, kayaks and scuba and snorkelling equipment available on hire.
Don’t leave without: Opting for the resort’s Castaway Picnic. Choose between Bigelow Beach, Muskmelon Beach or Harris Beach. The boatman will drop you off and pick you up at a designated time. What happens in between is up to you.
