How To: Blow dry your hair in 5 easy steps
Step 1:Wash hair and towel dry. Flip your hair in front and apply ahazelnut sized amount heat protection cream like Kerastase Ciment Technique evenly. Start working the product from underneath moving from the roots to tips. Avoid getting it on the scalp as it can get greasy.
Vogue.in Tip: Use a moderately heavy cream for thick hair as it needs to be moisturized, but not too much. Curly hair should be heavily moisturized before a blow-dry. For fine hair, spritz a heat protection spray along the length of the hair.
Step 2: With your hair flipped in front of you, begin blow drying. Place the nozzle ten inches away from your hair and starting from the roots, move slowly along the shaft of the hair (as opposed to against it) towards the tips. Moving the drier against your hair shaft, opens up its cuticles and leads to frizz and split ends.
Step 3: Move your hair sideways while running your fingers through it to expose the less dry portions. Allow the nozzle to follow your fingers.
Step 4: When your hair is 60 - 70 % dry, section it into two halves, through the center of your head. Now section the front half loosely into three pieces. Working with smaller sections helps hair dry faster and makes it more easily manageable. Leading with a paddle brush in one hand , follow with the dryer. Continue to keep the nozzle pointed along the direction of your hair shaft. Repeat the same with the other half of your hair.
"Lift at the roots with the paddle brush for maximum natural volume and bounce. Skip this if you have curly hair as it could lead unnecessary volume." says Contractor.
Step 5: Follow through with a burst of cold air to seal the cuticles. Finish off with a shine spray.
Vogue.in tip: If you want to avoid spraying directly onto your hair, spray the product on a hairbrush and comb through.
