Create Maximum Impact in Colour of the Season, Orange

By Pritha Bhattacharya Sep 8, 2012 8:06PM

If we go by the number of celebrities we've spotted over the last few months donning the colour, Orange is the go-to colour this season.

Last week Salma Hayek was spotted out in Venice in a Roland Mouret Resort 2013 dress paired with a Gucci shoulder bag and nude YSL Tribtoos. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was spotted in a rich hued Marc Jacobs chic shirt-dress last month.

Victoria Beckham officially loves the colour. Many celebrities including her BFF Eva Longoria, the ever classy Cameron Diaz and glamour queen Jennifer Lopez have been spotted in her orange fitted signature dresses. Last week VB was herself spotted at the Fashion Night Out at Bergdorf Goodman in her own orange creation.

Our own celebrities have also embraced the citrus hue this monsoon. It’s a great colour to offset the greys outside! Malaika Arora Khan was spotted in a Wendell Rodricks colour-blocked orange-pink-blue dress.

Orange is a great colour to brighten up any wardrobe as long as you understand what shade works for you. It is also a great colour that will be on trend this winter and, from what we are seeing at NYFW SS 2013, well into next summer! Just invest in the right pieces.

There are many options to choose from. Pick from the lighter shades of coral to bright tangerine and warm notes of deep rust that goes perfectly with Indian skin tones.

Style an orange dress or jumpsuit with muted nude accessories and a fresh faced make-up to let the colour be the star. Gold and nude toned accessories go really well with Oranges.

If full blown orange is not your thing, try a printed dress with an orange base like Emma Watson’s Peter Pilotto dress at MTV VMAs this week or an orange accented piece like the Masaba sari on Manasi Scott. You can also pick separates, this shirt from Zara is a great pick that can be paired with a neutral skirt or trousers. Another great option is to experiment with the colour on your lips or jewellery.

Whatever be your pick, remember to carry the colour with confidence!
