Tried & Tested: Maybelline Clear Glow BB Cream
What you get: Priced at Rs.199, a 18ml tube of the Maybelline Clear Glow BB Cream is the latest offering from the cosmetic giant. The tiny squeeze tube almost doesn't look like a foundation from the packing. However, if you know what you are looking for, its easy to spot. It comes with SPF 21 and in three shades- 01 Nude being the darkest. While most East Asian BB Creams stand for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm, the Maybelline version is called Bright Benefit Cream.
What they claim: With the claims Maybelline says the BB cream does it all- " brightens, evens tone, protects, hydrates, freshens, smoothes, clarifies, conceals". They also claim that it improves hydration levels of skin by 58% in 8 weeks of continuous use.
What to expect: The texture is the best part of this product that looks like a miniature version of a regular full sized foundation. It is runny enough to spread easily on your face without leaving any streaks or settling into fine lines. The finish, a natural looking matte is another big plus. The BB cream is great at camouflaging the redness around the nose and any redness around a pimple.
It does leave your skin looking fresh and natural under all lights. However, it isnt a replacement for a full coverage foundation. This is more akin to a tinted moisturizer and works best for skin that doesn't need much in terms of coverage. Though the product claims that it is hydrating, we found that skipping your moisturizer is not an option when you plan on using the BB cream. If it is, evening of skin tone that you are after then this is the product for you. Its only downfall is the number of shades. The product does not have enough choices for medium dark to dark skin tones. Hopefully the brand is planning on adding more choices so all women can benefit from its goodness.
