GI Jane gets a fashion make over and fighting crime never looked better. From Anand Kabra and Blumarine to Balmain and Ritu Kumar, runways are teaming with this utilitarian trend, forcing fashionistas to take attention. "This trend has a lot to do with the current state of the world we are living in. It has less to do with fashion, but more to do with how the world around us functions," discloses Arjun Saluja whose collection Rishta reflects many a military-inspired piece.
Make this trend your own by adapting it in variations. Whether you choose military colors or sharp cuts, the easiest way to wear this style is to look back to the TV series, M.A.S.H. Just team your jeans and ganji with a lone military accessory for a casual day look. "Military uniforms are linear, they are utilitarian kind of outfits, and they don't have any horizontal volume, so wear it with something voluminous," suggests Saluja. The iconic military jacket can be worn in many ways; team it with an evening gown to tone down the look or go androgynous with military trousers and a crisp white shirt. Whatever you do, this season, give in to your rebellious streak.
